MY LIGHT BULB MOMENT
I've always loved food and hospitality. At the age of 14 I got my first job at a restaurant and love affair is still going strong. My ah ha! moment took place about 12 years ago while working at my first "wine focused" restaurant. It was there that I tasted a bottle of Beaucastel CDP that rocked my world, awakened my senses, and stoked the desire to learn about wine.
WHAT I'M DRINKING NOW
  • 2012 Owen Roe, Red Willow Cab Sauv. Sexy, elegant, special occasion.
  • Commanderie de la Bargemone 2016 Rosé, Coteaux d'Aix-en-Provence. LOVE
  • Produttori - I've been buying and hoarding various vintages/vineyards for years, not drinking yet!
  • Kerloo Cellars- Upland Grenache/ Mourvedre Boushey Vineyard/ anything from Kerloo really!
  • Betz Family Winery- La Cote Rousse and La Serenne Syrah.

The Bluebird
Head Sommelier/Manager

I am a CS through the Court of Master Sommeliers. I've been in love with all things food related since I can remember. I got my first cook book at the age of 4, I still have it. I spent my childhood reading recipes out of my mom's magazines and her old cookbooks. It's not just eating that I love, (although I LOVE EATING!), I love anything related to the creation of food whether it be growing food, creating recipes, restaurants, cooking, ect.

My career in the hospitality industry began at the age of 14 years old at a local restaurant in a small town in Northern California. I worked there throughout my high school career. As a young adult I raised my children and worked in the performing arts industry for about 10 years, before landing back in a restaurant 12 years ago. I landed a job at restaurant in the resort town of Coeur d' Alene Idaho called The Wine Cellar. It was here that I began to learn about the wine, wine pairings, and how to sell wine. The starting founder of the Wine Cellar, Jim Duncan, was one of the first to put Leonetti on a wine list and was and still is a huge advocate of Washington wine. I cut my teeth on Washington Wine, fell in love with it and the people that make it.  It sparked the fire in me for WA. wine and which led to curiosity about wine made outside WA and the USA. In 2014 I decided I wanted to take the Intro exam through The Court of Master Sommeliers. I took the course/exam in Santa Rosa in March of 2014 and passed. It wasn't until the fall of 2015 after a life changing trip to the Piedmont region of Italy  that I reserved a seat for the Certified exam. I went back to the bay area to take my certified exam in March of 2016 and passed. I'm now working up the nerve to attempt the process of getting a seat for the advanced  course and exam.

I am currently the manager and wine director of an eclectic, casual, Pacific Northwest centric restaurant in Coeur d' Alene. I've been branching out into consulting, wine education and tastings, with a focus on Washington State wines. I love introducing people to producers and wine varieties that they've never tasted before. I continue my studies on a daily basis, jumping at any opportunity to learn. I've applied and been accepted to take the Viticulture certification through Washington State University. I attended Oregon Pinot Camp and The Washington Road Trip in 2017.
