Owner

LJ Brimfield currently resides in the heart of the Willamette Valley where he provides winemaking consulting services to several wineries in the local area. He owns and operates an enology laboratory offering full service enologist facilities to over 15 wineries. Until 2013, LJ was the Assistant Winemaker for Evening Land’s Oregon operations. Dominque LaFon and Isabelle Meunier helped cultivate his passion for Pinot Noir and Chardonnay, expanding his breadth of experience and obsession for the art of viniculture. Previously, you could find him nurturing his Pinot erudition in some of the world’s best winemaking regions. His travels cast him into very unique landscapes that imposed many climatic challenges, sharpening LJ’s resiliency to make wine in a variety of conditions. These experiences included serving as Assistant Winemaker at Giant Steps/Innocent Bystander to concentrating on the world of Chardonnay at Kosta Browne. Early on in his career, he experienced a rare snowy and rainy harvest in Marlborough and a culturally-rich encounter making Chardonnay and Vino Vherde in Northern Portugal. LJ’s sprint for knowledge began with a brief tour of Northern and Southern Rhone and Burgandy regions that solidified a decision to leave behind the Clinical Laboratory for the Vineyard.  Upon his return from France, he found himself working on his first harvest at Cakebread in the Napa Valley then becoming wine buyer for an Italian/California wine shop in the heart of San Francisco. His journey is far from complete, but a modest conversation with LJ will reveal how his travels and encounters have shaped his perspective and nurtured his love for winemaking.
