MY LIGHT BULB MOMENT
the first time I was awakened to wine was while i was in college. A few friends and I had gone out to a nice dinner to celebrate some birthdays and I was asked to order the wine. I ordered something very familiar but, it was the enjoyment that all of my friends received out of the wine that made this the moment that I knew what I wanted to do with my life.

I started out as a simple college student working at Starbucks. I quickly found that I loved coffee. However, it was not the caffeine or the kick that i got out of the beverage that made it intriguing. Instead, it was the immense wealth of knowledge that there was related to the subject that drew me in. The areas of production, the differences in smell, taste and quality. Needless to say this was the foundation of my discovery of wine.

I first discovered wine while wandering through a small liquor store. I found the wine section and quickly realized that I was in over my head. I began drinking wine, enjoying it and wanting to learn more about the different wines. Though it was not until after I left college that i would delve into the wine lifestyle.

It began with a simple job at a wine retail store selling wine. Quickly i found that my curiosity was well satisfied with the amount of wine that we carried as well as the fact that i was not familiar with it all. this did not settle well with me and i began my mission to discover as much as i could about ever single wine we carried. After I had started this, my manager told me about this group called the Court of Master Sommeliers. I was awestruck. I knew that that was what I wanted. I quickly took pen to paper and studied constantly. Within a year and a half I had completed my certified Sommelier exam and had been promoted to managing the wine department of one of my companies stores. Since then I have continued my pursuit of obtaining my Advanced Sommelier certification by tasting, continued study and a part-time job at a wine bar.
