MY LIGHT BULB MOMENT
Discovering my great uncle made a career of working in fine dining and wine service at one of the most storied restaurants in NYC: 21 Club! I looked at the wine list he put together and became inspired to forge my own path in this industry. Share
I do it all for the grape!
I've worked in the wine industry since 2008 and haven't looked back since; I started humbly stocking shelves in a liquor store and worked my way up to online sales and Bordeaux Futures. Then liquor/wine wholesale was calling me which I did for 6 years from the smallest of distributors up to the state's largest.
All these experiences would prove very useful because shortly thereafter I had the opportunity to open up a liquor store and restaurant of my own design, Atlantic City Bottle Co. & The Iron Room.
Additionally, I sit on the panels of the Governor's Cup Wine Judging for New Jersey's and Pennsylvania's competitions and maintain a wine column for The Press of Atlantic City called, "Reading Between the Wines" and will soon start contributing to the "Wine Journal", a quarterly publication put out by the American Wine Society. I'm the co-chair for a regional chapter headquartered in Atlantic County, NJ of this organization; my group is called the South Jersey Wine Friends where we meet monthly to share great wines and grow wine appreciation in our market.
Lastly, a big effort of mine has been promoting my state's wine industry; recently, I've become a member of the Garden State Wine Growers Association and the Outer Coastal Plain Vineyard Association to connect with others who produce, distribute and have a mutual love of the great wines produced here.
